Humana Healthy Horizons is in search of a Senior Medicaid Education Specialist who will oversee the development of educational resources for Humana's Medicaid division, aiming to enhance the provider experience.

This role involves revising existing content and conducting an annual assessment of training materials related to new state contracts. Additionally, the specialist will spearhead the creation of new resources to support internal processes and market needs, collaborating closely with the Medicaid Provider Education team across various markets.


The Senior Medicaid Education Specialist will operate as an independent contributor, requiring robust content development skills to produce provider materials. Strong interpersonal abilities are essential for effective collaboration across business units, along with exceptional organizational skills.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop small to mid-scale provider content initiatives utilizing new learning technologies for training providers in active Medicaid markets.
  • Design and maintain templates to ensure consistency across educational resource guides for providers.
  • Collaborate with various departments to refresh annual educational resources in accordance with state contract requirements, ensuring an optimal provider experience.
  • Conduct regular meetings with project teams to assess their training and educational needs, ensuring alignment with segment strategies.
  • Assist team members in the provider implementation education group with annual document reviews, including peer evaluations and tracking through the internal review process.

Essential Qualifications


  • Availability to work within the Eastern Standard Time Zone.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3 years of experience in developing provider content for educational resources or training materials.
  • 2 years of project management experience with mid-sized projects.
  • 1 year of experience with learning management systems and/or relevant software.
  • Knowledge of learning design principles with a proven track record of applying these principles to create engaging and accessible training materials for providers.
  • Experience in template design with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Outstanding time management skills and the capacity to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience working in a matrixed organization, coordinating efforts across various departments, with a flexible and collaborative approach.


Remote Work Requirements

  • A minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; a wired cable or DSL connection is preferred.
  • Satellite, cellular, and microwave connections may only be used with prior approval from leadership.
  • Humana will provide necessary telephone equipment for Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates to meet business requirements.
  • A dedicated workspace free from ongoing interruptions is essential to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in project management.
  • Familiarity with Medicaid policies and/or operations, including provider relations, claims processing, utilization management, behavioral health processes, and dispute resolution.

  • Travel: Up to 5%, potentially outside of your home state.



  • Workstyle: Remote, with required hours within the Eastern Time Zone.

  • Core Workdays & Hours: Typically, 8 AM - 5 PM, Monday - Friday; Eastern Standard Time (EST).
