Position Overview:

Join The University of Chicago Medicine as an Assistant Patient Care Manager in the Pediatric Emergency Department.

The Assistant Patient Care Manager (APCM) plays a vital role in overseeing the operations and patient flow within a designated Care Center during their shift. Key responsibilities include conducting daily quality audits, managing MDI boards, facilitating staff huddles, and ensuring the delivery of quality, patient-centered care while maintaining financial accountability. The APCM collaborates closely with the Patient Care Manager (PCM) and assumes full responsibility for the unit in the PCM's absence, providing 24/7 coverage.

The Assistant Patient Care Manager (RN) is essential to the success of the Pediatric Emergency Department. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, our facility offers immediate, specialized pediatric emergency services around the clock. The state-of-the-art emergency department is equipped with the latest diagnostic and treatment technologies to ensure comprehensive care.

Essential Skills:
Strong interpersonal communication skills are crucial for fostering effective communication among staff, leadership, and other healthcare professionals. Specialty certifications are preferred.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher from an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse license in Illinois.
  • Basic Life Support certification from The American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of nursing experience in Emergency Medicine.
  • Experience in Adult Emergency Departments.
  • Specialty certifications such as ACLS and/or TNCC.
  • Experience as an RN in a Level 1 Trauma Hospital.
  • Charge Nurse experience.
  • Two or more years of nursing management or leadership experience.

Compliance with COVID-19 Vaccination requirements is mandatory for employment.
