Position Overview:

Join The University of Chicago Medicine as an Assistant Patient Care Manager in the Pediatric Emergency Department.

The Assistant Patient Care Manager (APCM) is tasked with overseeing the operational flow and patient management within a designated Care Center during their shift. Responsibilities encompass conducting daily quality assessments and managing improvement boards, leading daily staff meetings, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-focused care while maintaining financial accountability. This role operates in conjunction with the Patient Care Manager (PCM) and assumes full responsibility for the unit in their absence, providing continuous support to the PCM.

The Assistant Patient Care Manager (RN) plays a vital role in the Pediatric Emergency Department. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, the facility offers immediate, specialized pediatric emergency services around the clock. Our state-of-the-art emergency department is equipped with the latest diagnostic and treatment technologies to ensure comprehensive emergency care.

Essential Skills: Exceptional interpersonal communication skills are crucial for fostering effective communication among team members, leadership, and other healthcare professionals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Active Registered Nurse license in Illinois.
  • Basic Life Support certification from The American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of nursing experience in Emergency Medicine.
  • Experience in Adult Emergency Departments.
  • Specialty certifications such as ACLS and/or TNCC.
  • Experience as an RN in a Level 1 Trauma Hospital.
  • Charge Nurse experience.
  • Two or more years of nursing management or leadership experience.

Position Details:

  • Full-Time (1.0 FTE).
  • Night Shift.
  • Unit/Department: Pediatric Emergency Department.
  • CBA Code: Non-Union.

Compliance with UCMC's COVID-19 Vaccination requirement is mandatory for employment.
