Job Overview

Position Summary

The Utility Operations and Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the implementation of all utility and facility maintenance activities to ensure the reliable operation of systems that support business functions. This role collaborates with Engineering and Automation teams to enhance the performance of all infrastructure and utility equipment, including HVAC systems, chillers, air compressors, cooling towers, glycol systems, steam generation, and clean utilities such as Water for Injection (WFI) and Purified Water (WPU).

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of intricate utility systems and controls.
  • Oversee all maintenance and operational aspects related to site utilities (Black, Clean HVAC, Electricity) to maintain continuous operations.
  • Work closely with various departments to identify and fulfill customer requirements.
  • Develop maintenance budgets and identify opportunities for cost savings in utility usage and waste management.
  • Revise workflows to promote safer, compliant, and more efficient operations.
  • Ensure the workforce adheres to job plans, Good Practice (GxP) requirements, safety protocols, and all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Foster a culture of trust and accountability to support a high-performing team.
  • Influence site regulatory compliance through team practices and presentations during audits.
  • Guarantee that all activities comply with current Good Practice (cGxP) and safety standards.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert on Utility Systems during regulatory audits and capital project initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback in alignment with people management policies.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma (or equivalent) with 7 years of experience OR Associate's Degree with 5 years of experience OR Bachelor's Degree with 3 years of experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or other regulated healthcare sectors.
  • Understanding of manufacturing operations within a biopharmaceutical environment is essential.
  • Experience managing projects in large facilities.
  • Ability to effectively lead change and execute initiatives that align with business objectives.
  • Capacity to adapt and respond to unforeseen situations and demands.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in people leadership within a technical setting.
