Job Overview

The Senior Facilities Engineer plays a crucial role in providing engineering support and troubleshooting for clean utility systems, including Water for Injection (WFI), Clean Steam, and various gases. This position collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance and refine existing processes, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of all assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for facility and utility operations by diagnosing issues and proposing enhancements to equipment systems. Revise standards, drawings, and specifications as needed. Develop validation protocols and offer expertise in associated equipment and automation design modifications.
  • Assist with capital and operational expenditure projects related to equipment, including scoping, modifications, design evaluations, change controls, construction support, commissioning, and validation.
  • Lead and execute commissioning and qualification activities for equipment.
  • Represent the department in cross-functional and global teams to resolve issues, implement changes, and enhance existing processes.
  • Oversee small-scale capital projects.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is an experienced utility and facility engineer with a strong aptitude for troubleshooting equipment, leading investigations, and implementing improvements to boost system reliability, compliance, and efficiency. A passion for learning new technologies and collaborating in a cross-functional environment is essential. This role demands accountability for achieving milestones in equipment projects, with frequent communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of FDA GMP and EMA regulations.
  • Expertise in industrial utility systems generation and distribution.
  • Experience with supporting utilities such as plant steam, chilled water, cooling towers, and industrial air compressors.
  • Basic understanding of automation systems and Piping/Instrumentation diagrams for operational troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Project.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work extended shifts or weekends as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in capital project management.
  • Familiarity with GMP facility and cleanroom design principles.
  • Additional utility support experience is a plus.
  • Experience in defending clean utility procedures to regulatory authorities.
  • Background in biotechnology or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
  • Validation experience is advantageous.
