Job Overview Position Summary

1. Safety Responsibilities

1. Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) applicable to various operational areas.

2. Aid in sustaining a tidy, secure, and orderly workspace.

3. Practice safe working habits by adhering to all safety regulations and general operational guidelines.

4. Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as cut-resistant gloves, hard hats in production areas, safety glasses, and specific protective gear based on tasks performed.

5. Successfully complete the mandatory quarterly safety training.

2. Automation and Controls Expertise:

· Demonstrate advanced time management skills and the ability to work independently.

· Develop documentation for in-house designs and training initiatives.

· Conduct programming for Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).

· Provide training and support to Line Technicians on all automation equipment and troubleshooting control circuits.

· Offer backup assistance to Line Technicians, including die changes and necessary changeovers.

· Collaborate with external vendors to enhance current processes or identify future improvements.

· Exhibit a fundamental understanding of mechanical processes while troubleshooting equipment.

a. Proficient in using basic hand tools on the production floor.

b. Identify and resolve mechanical issues.

c. Efficiently perform mechanical repairs.

· Display advanced knowledge of electrical processes during equipment troubleshooting.

a. Utilize a multimeter for high-level troubleshooting down to component level.

b. Replace or program electrical components and execute complex wiring tasks.

c. Possess advanced electrical skills.

· Show basic proficiency in using shop equipment, including:

a. Mill

b. Lathe

c. Drill Press

d. Band saws

e. Welder

f. Hydraulic presses

· Assist in developing preventive maintenance procedures for all automation equipment and help build spare parts inventory.

· Adhere to all aspects of the Maintenance Planning Process.

a. Utilize and validate preventive maintenance job plans.

b. Use Asset Essentials to create work orders.

· Comply with all elements of the Parts Process.

a. Understand storeroom layout.

b. Follow parts checkout processes and expectations.

c. Use Asset Essentials for parts lookup.

· Communicate effectively with colleagues and cross-functional teams using Redzone.

· Maintain exemplary attendance, GMP, and safety records.

3. Quality Assurance

  1. Understand SQF Level 3 (Food Safety & Quality) requirements.
  1. Familiarity with regulatory and customer requirements.
  1. Knowledge of HACCP plans.
  1. Recognize the importance of safeguarding food safety and quality through proper GMPs.
  1. Report any questionable products to Quality Assurance, Supervisors, or Quality Control.

4. Team Collaboration

  1. Foster a friendly and positive work environment, showing respect for all coworkers.
  1. Accept work instructions and complete requests from colleagues.
  1. Provide feedback on departmental updates and changes.
  1. Offer training to Line Technicians as needed.
  1. Complete additional duties as assigned.

5. Continuous Improvement

  1. Understand and adhere to the principles of EAS Continuous Improvement/LEAN program.
  1. Lead internal projects aimed at reducing manual labor processes.
  1. Take an active role in new equipment design and installation projects.
  1. Participate in company-mandated training to enhance skills within the role.

6. Mastery of Standard Work Processes

1. Repair and maintain equipment according to industry standards while collaborating with other departments.

2. Work with various departments to ensure timely completion of repairs.

3. Accurately complete all required documentation for production and departmental needs.

Required Qualifications:

A. Strong communication skills.

B. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Google Drive, and Outlook.

C. Ability to manage time and workload efficiently and independently.

D. High proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and logic processes.

E. Comprehensive understanding of automation processes and design.

F. Previous experience in a food safety certified environment is strongly preferred.

G. Strong knowledge of automation software (RSLogix, CCW, Factory Talk ME, etc.).

H. Minimum of five years of Maintenance Technician experience, including two years in Controls/Automation or a completed Controls/Automation degree with 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

A. More than 20% of the shift may be spent in refrigerated production areas under 50°F.

B. Ability to respond to off-hour support calls.

C. Some overtime may be required.

D. Capability to lift over 50 lbs. occasionally.
