Position Overview: The IT Operations Team Leader is the key decision-maker in the realm of Information Technology (IT) and is accountable for the management and technical oversight of the Information System (IS) in alignment with both internal and external security standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations including testing, implementation, deployment, maintenance, and administration of cyber systems or networks along with their infrastructure components.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the Information Assurance technical domain.
  • Manage personnel within the team, including training, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
  • Conduct continuous monitoring, analysis, and response to Information System, network, and security incidents.
  • Document compliance activities in accordance with approved authorization packages.
  • Develop and maintain procedures to ensure compliance with Configuration Management (CM) for security-relevant IS software, hardware, and firmware.
  • Ensure systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of according to approved guidelines and customer directives.
  • Maintain records for workstations, servers, software, routers, firewalls, network switches, and other relevant hardware throughout the information system's lifecycle.
  • Evaluate proposed changes to the information system and advise senior leadership on security implications.
  • Lead security education and training initiatives within the organization.
  • Mentor engineers in cybersecurity practices and secure software development.
  • Participate in security audits and inspections, performing risk assessments and continuous monitoring.
  • Lead investigations into security violations and incidents, reporting findings to relevant authorities.
  • Collaborate with the Facility Security Officer to develop and manage a formal Information Security Program.
  • Establish and enforce Information Security Policies and Procedures.
  • Author and review IS Authorization documentation to support assessment and authorization activities.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree with 12 to 15 years of relevant experience in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or a Master's degree with 6 to 10 years of experience. Additional relevant experience, training, or certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Candidates must have a detailed understanding of the Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST, ICD, and CNSS standards, along with familiarity in network technologies (LAN & WAN) and best practices in classified environments.

Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems (both workstation and server), Linux, and system virtualization in secure network environments is essential. Experience with compliance scanning tools and vulnerability scanning tools is also required.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a dynamic regulatory environment, possess strong writing and verbal communication skills, and hold an active TS/SCI clearance. CISSP Certification must be obtained within six months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience as an ISSM/ISSO and knowledge of DoD IS are advantageous.
