Job Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring efficient and safe practices by each member of the production team. Adheres to the plant schedule and ensures that quality standards are properly acknowledged and effectively executed by every member of production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyzes data to determine appropriate corrective action response for Mean Time Between Failures, Minor Stops, and establishes the root-cause analysis.
  • Staffs, trains, evaluates, and develops production team members.
  • Manages line efficiencies, key performance indicators, and production downtime.
  • Manages labor and operations within the Operating Expense budget.
  • Monitors the production process, making periodic checks and adjustments to the equipment or practices according to standard operating procedures.
  • Ensures all equipment is operating safely and in appropriate working order.
  • Verifies the readiness of the production line at start-up; oversees shift and/or product line changeovers. Adjusts product schedules to accommodate business needs.
  • Manages overall packaging and product quality to ensure required standards and specifications are achieved.
  • Practices flexibility with personal scheduling; this is necessary on occasional weekends during peak season, and includes the ability to shifts on days, nights, and weekends as needed to meet customer demands.
  • Operates a forklift and other manufacturing equipment on occasion.
  • Maintains a regular presence on the production floor; oversees the production line and its employees.
  • Partners with maintenance, quality, warehouse, and logistics departments to achieve Key Business Initiatives goals.
  • Leads the improvement effort in production to achieve set goals for increased engagement with Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Maintains daily production reports with SAP, including downtime.
  • Assists in creating weekly production schedules for each crew.
  • Verifies employees time weekly for payroll processing.
  • Works with Production Manager to identify and implement efficiency and yield improvements.
  • Provides performance evaluations and development opportunities to direct reports.
  • Administers coaching and corrective action techniques, dictated by company policy.
  • Completes the Defective Material Returns for supervisors to ensure customer credits are processed appropriately.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required. Bachelor's Degree or Technical Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of work experience required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in manufacturing industry required. Beverage or consumer goods preferred.
  • Prior experience supervising or managing employees in an operations environment.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and development skills. Demonstrated ability to work well with team members.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of Lean principles, including Value Stream Mapping, Process Flow Mapping, Measles Mapping, Continuous Improvement Process, Kaizen, TPM, Six-Sigma and Communication Tools, and Statistical Problem Solving preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Lean tools and methodologies such as 5S, RCA (Root Cause Analysis), the 5-Why's, Fish-Bone Diagram, and Kaizen preferred.
  • Maintains strong knowledge of TPM (Total Productive Manufacturing) and AM (Autonomous Maintenance) Pillar Tools, including CIL (Clean, Inspect, Lubricate), SOC (Source of Contamination), RCO (Rapid Changeover), CL (Centerlines) and HTR (Hard to Reach) preferred.
  • Experience leading production teams in Six-Sigma approaches to problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of how to apply the DMAIC model (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) for problem-solving procedures preferred.
  • Analytical thought process and problem-solving skills; ability to train on Lean methodologies of 5S, 7 Steps, the 5-Why's, CL, CIL, RCO, Minor Stops, RCA, etc. preferred.
  • Prior experience managing an operations and labor budget.
  • Strong computer application skills, including knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP. Capable of creating, maintaining, and analyzing data in spreadsheets, reports, and charts.
  • Prior experience using a forklift is preferred. Ability to obtain Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) certification upon hire is required.
