Job Overview
Responsible for the safe and effective operation and upkeep of the incineration systems and waste management equipment, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the incineration system in accordance with regulatory permits.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on the incinerator, scrubber, ash system, and associated utility systems.

Proactively troubleshoot and implement corrective measures. Maintain and repair equipment utilized in the waste management and recycling processes.

  • Monitor system performance through computer logic system gauges and control panels.
  • Coordinate and/or conduct sampling of ash and emissions to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain comprehensive daily records and logs of equipment operations in line with permit requirements.
  • Supervise daily activities of incinerator technicians to ensure accurate waste processing and documentation.
  • Report operational issues to management and initiate necessary interventions.
  • Review waste logs prepared by technicians for accuracy and compliance.
  • Clean and sanitize waste containers and maintain the facility and surrounding areas.
  • Schedule waste disposal activities with external contractors.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to optimize boiler system efficiency.
  • Manage inventory of parts necessary for incinerator operations, including scrubber reagents.
  • Prepare detailed written reports as required.
  • Handle all chemicals in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Operate a 10-wheel truck with standard transmission and hydraulic lifts for solid waste transport; a CDL is required.

For positions involving direct patient contact, employees must acquire and demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to provide appropriate assessment, treatment, or care as defined by the department's patient demographics.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)

Experience
3 years of maintenance experience as required by the department.
