Role Summary

  • The City of Roanoke is seeking a Waste Management Equipment Operator responsible for operating automated side loaders, knuckle boom trucks, or packer vehicles according to designated routes.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with residents regarding waste disposal, recycling, and bulk collection inquiries.
  • Provide service to over 900 residential and commercial locations on a daily basis.
  • This role is crucial for customer service; candidates must efficiently plan routes and possess knowledge of municipal regulations and procedures.
  • Professionally manage hydraulic spills and chemical incidents.
  • Accountable for the upkeep and reporting of any equipment malfunctions.
  • Required qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Class B commercial driver's license, and 2-3 years of relevant operational experience.
