Patient Care Coordinator

Position Overview:
At NovaCare Rehabilitation, we prioritize delivering an outstanding experience for our patients from the moment they arrive. As a Patient Care Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in managing both the patient experience and the operational aspects of our facility. Your primary responsibilities will be at the front desk, where you will serve as a patient advocate, engage with individuals through various communication channels, oversee patient payments, and utilize multiple software applications. Your contributions will significantly enhance each patient's care journey, even before they enter the treatment area.
Key Details:
- Employment Type: Per Diem/PRN
- Work Schedule: Weekdays (1-4 evenings until 7-8pm per week)
- Compensation: Starting at $15/hour (based on experience)
Core Responsibilities:
We are looking for candidates who are adaptable, patient-focused, excellent communicators, detail-oriented, and collaborative team members. In this role, your typical duties will include:
- Welcoming new and returning patients upon arrival, registering new patients, and providing essential information about their visit.
- Coordinating patient appointments both in-person and via phone.
- Maintaining regular communication with various stakeholders, including legal offices, insurance providers, translation services, operational leaders, and business development teams.
- Collecting patient co-pays, managing payer approvals, and conducting insurance authorizations and verifications.
- Providing patients with relevant information regarding their upcoming appointments during the checkout process.
- Addressing inquiries from patients, healthcare providers, and colleagues.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, and reach consistently throughout the workday.
- Manual dexterity to enable typing (including 10-key) throughout the workday.
- Capability to lift up to 25 lbs safely from ground to waist using proper body mechanics.
- Ability to carry office supplies weighing up to 10 lbs.
- Visual acuity (near and distant) sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize individuals, and comprehend written instructions.
- Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand and provide directions.
