Position Overview

Salary: Starting at $16.00

Join our dedicated team at the Oak Brook Park District as an After School Program Coordinator. This role involves overseeing our after school initiative, Dolphin Station, which caters to students from kindergarten through fifth grade. The Coordinator is responsible for crafting engaging weekly activities and ensuring a secure and enjoyable atmosphere for all participants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in mandatory training sessions for the role.
  • Design and implement weekly educational plans and activities for children in grades K-5.
  • Conduct daily attendance checks.
  • Maintain accurate records of participants' medical information and allergies, ensuring proper care is provided.
  • Administer medications as required, adhering to established procedures.
  • Supervise participants as they transition between various program areas.
  • Ensure that all participants are properly signed in and out by their designated guardians.
  • Punctually report for duty each day.
  • Engage in professional communication with parents/guardians and fellow staff members.
  • Organize and prepare activity spaces before and after each session.
  • Actively participate in all program activities alongside staff and participants.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Recreation Manager or other supervisory personnel.
  • Manage daily operations of the program.
  • Guarantee the safety and satisfaction of all program attendees.
  • Ensure that all equipment and supplies are well-maintained and organized.
  • Procure necessary supplies as needed, with costs covered by the District.
  • Monitor and replenish weekly snack inventory as required.
  • Provide guidance to Site Leaders and participants.
  • Administer the program in alignment with the approved budget and District policies.
  • Keep accurate records related to attendance, emergency contacts, medical forms, and staff timesheets.
  • Coordinate with the school district regarding essential program details.
  • Assess program content and communicate relevant information to supervisors and the school district as needed.

Qualifications

  • A college degree or a minimum of three years of experience in elementary education or working with children.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
  • Possession of a valid Illinois Driver's License (Class D).
  • Ability to complete Mandated Reporter training within 30 days of hire.
