About the Role

The State of Indiana is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as a Long Term Care Nurse Surveyor. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for conducting on-site surveys in various healthcare facilities to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

This is a field-based position, and the ideal candidate will reside in Elkhart, Fulton, Miami, Kosciusko, or Marshall counties. You will work closely with our team to identify potential adverse health and safety conditions, conduct investigations, and provide recommendations for improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct on-site surveys using federal and state protocols and procedures to identify deficient practices and determine appropriate levels of non-compliance.
  • Communicate observations and findings to ensure adherence with survey protocols and maintain the integrity of the survey.
  • Conduct on-site investigations of complaints within required timeframes using federal and state protocols and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of complainants, consumers who are the subject of the complaint, and the complaint survey schedules.
  • Complete written summaries of investigations and prepare for and testify in legal proceedings.
  • May assist in staff training and development.
Requirements
  • Must be an active Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana.
  • One year (1) of experience as a Registered Nurse in an Acute or Long-Term Care setting is preferred.
  • Specialized knowledge of principles of nursing practice and standards of care.
  • Specialized knowledge of state licensure and federal certification requirements.
  • Knowledge of survey and investigative procedures and the ability to conduct surveys, inspections, interviews, observations, and investigations.
  • Ability to identify potential adverse health and safety conditions.
  • Ability to utilize computer equipment and software to enter, retrieve, and manipulate data.
  • Ability to work before and after normal work hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to be professional and maintain composure under stressful situations.
