About the Role

The State of Indiana is seeking a highly skilled Long Term Care Nurse Surveyor to join our team. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for conducting on-site surveys in various healthcare facilities to ensure compliance with federal certification and state licensure requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct surveys and investigations to identify deficient practices and determine non-compliance in healthcare services.
  • Communicate findings and observations to ensure adherence to survey protocols and maintain the integrity of the survey.
  • Investigate complaints within required timeframes using federal and state protocols and procedures.
  • Prepare written summaries of investigations and submit survey packets according to division policies.
  • Testify in legal proceedings and assist with staff training.
Requirements
  • Active Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana.
  • One year of experience as a Registered Nurse in an Acute or Long-Term Care setting preferred.
  • Specialized knowledge of nursing practice and standards of care.
  • Knowledge of state licensure and federal certification requirements.
  • Ability to conduct surveys, inspections, interviews, observations, and investigations.
  • Ability to identify potential adverse health and safety conditions.
  • Ability to utilize computer equipment and software to enter, retrieve, and manipulate data.
  • Ability to work before and after normal work hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Commitment to the public health mission of protecting the health, safety, rights, privacy, and well-being of residents in long-term care facilities.
