At Merit Resource Group, we are seeking a highly skilled and strategic People Operations Manager to play a critical role in our continued success. As a key member of our team, you will oversee the full spectrum of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, payroll, and conflict resolution. In addition, you will take a lead role in key operational functions, such as managing insurance, vendor relationships, and company-wide administrative support.

This is a unique opportunity for someone with at least 5+ years of management experience, who thrives in a dynamic and collaborative environment and is ready to make an impact at both strategic and tactical levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Human Resources:
    • Lead the hiring process: Manage candidate searches, coordinate interviews, extend offers, and handle onboarding.
    • Policy and compliance management: Ensure personnel policies are up-to-date and compliant with state and federal laws, offering guidance to managers and staff.
    • Employee development: Oversee training and performance evaluation processes, fostering a culture of growth and accountability.
    • Benefits and leave administration: Work with TPA to manage employee benefits packages, including health, dental, and leave policies.
    • Conflict resolution and employee relations: Act as a resource for staff, maintaining an open-door policy and managing employee grievances confidentially and effectively.
    • HR reporting: Conduct exit interviews and ensure the proper completion of documentation.
  • Operations:
    • Operational support: Maintain organizational and employee directories, manage office-related purchases, and ensure vendor relationships are up-to-date.
    • Administrative management: Oversee company insurance coverage, manage bills, and provide support for payroll, sales reporting, and bonus calculations.
    • Technology and security administration: Manage the security of employee platforms and devices, and ensure smooth coordination with IT consultants.
    • Process improvement: Implement enhancements to procedures that improve overall productivity, client service, and team efficiency.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in HR management, preferably in California, with knowledge of California labor laws.
  • Strong understanding of HR compliance, organizational development, and staff relations.
  • Ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with managers and employees at all levels.
  • SPHR certification is a plus but not required.
  • Credibility, decisiveness, and the ability to maintain positive relationships with staff.
  • Excellent judgment in handling sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Optimistic, adaptable, and resourceful, with high emotional intelligence.
  • Strong self-management skills, able to prioritize multiple demands.
