Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Coordinator to join our team at Global Medical Response. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless movement of patients to designated discharge units.

Responsibilities
  • Assist hospital staff with Level of Service (LOS) determination to facilitate timely and safe patient transport.
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork is complete and accurate, including Physician Certification Statements and other relevant documents.
  • Coordinate and order ambulance/CCTs for all applicable discharges.
  • Assist in eliminating delays to maintain a seamless patient movement process.
  • Provide information regarding transportation services to physicians and nursing personnel.
  • Communicate with GMR Dispatch centers and customer communications centers to ensure on-time performance and quality customer service.
  • Recommend routes for medical and non-medical units to follow.
  • Interact with GMR dispatch centers to ensure proper unit utilization.
  • Report unusual incidents to duty supervisors as necessary.
  • Prepare timely and accurate paperwork as required.
  • Serve as a liaison between GMR and healthcare facilities.
  • Assist with billing-related questions.
Qualifications
  • 1 year of related experience providing dispatching and/or transportation services to hospital patients.
  • 2 years of EMS industry experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred.
  • Must be familiar with local geography.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Must type 30 WPM.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • EMD/EMT Certified preferred.
Working Conditions and Mental/Physical Requirements
  • Work in a controlled temperature setting with fluorescent lighting.
  • Handle multiple tasks and prioritize while dealing with frequent interruptions.
  • Frequent sitting in front of computer monitors, using the phone, radio, and computers.
  • Occasional to moderate bending and twisting of the neck.
  • Occasional lifting of no more than 10 lbs.
  • Frequent simple grasping of both hands, as well as frequent computer typing.
  • Close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
