We are in search of a seasoned veterinarian to take on a leadership role across multiple veterinary facilities.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The primary role of the Regional Veterinary Operations Leader is to guide, nurture, and oversee veterinary professionals within their facilities, ensuring that Banfield attracts, develops, engages, and retains skilled veterinarians who provide exceptional care and meet established performance benchmarks.

This position fosters a culture of excellence and quality care delivered by the veterinary team (DVM, CVT, VA) in their designated facilities, ensuring that every pet receives consistent care aligned with our six quality domains (safe, effective, client-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care).

The Regional Veterinary Operations Leader collaborates with the Practice Manager (if applicable) to promote a culture of quality care and ensure that the veterinary team delivers consistent care in line with our quality standards.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Embody and promote the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within the team.

Act as a quality advocate by effectively communicating and fostering a culture of safety and excellence at the facility level to enhance medical care, client satisfaction, team engagement, and overall performance.

Conduct regular visits and quality assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and Banfield's quality expectations while enhancing veterinarian engagement.

Mentor, coach, and guide veterinarians on the essential skills required for success in their roles, ensuring they deliver outstanding medical care that aligns with our quality domains and meets business performance goals.

In collaboration with the Director of Veterinary Quality (DVQ), build a thriving and effective veterinary team through recruitment, referrals, interviews, and the onboarding and training of new veterinarians.

Support the development of veterinarians to mentor new hires and provide an exceptional onboarding experience.

Achieve veterinary quality KPIs to support the facility, market, and practice objectives.

Facilitate the development of clinical skills and leadership competencies among veterinarians to ensure high-quality medical care and superior client service.

Work alongside the Regional P&O Co-Pilot (POCP) and the DVQ to identify and cultivate future veterinary leaders within the organization.

Implement strategies to enhance veterinarian engagement and retention in partnership with DVQ, POCP, and operations, reducing turnover risk and providing consistent support at the facility level.

Oversee the inventory and functionality of medical equipment in assigned facilities and manage requests for additional equipment in collaboration with the DVQ and Regional Vice President of Veterinary Quality (VPVQ).

Partner with the Practice Manager (PM) to ensure proper maintenance and calibration of medical equipment according to practice and supplier standards.

Engage actively in local, state, and national veterinary organizations to build relationships within the veterinary community (e.g., regulatory boards, vendors, associations, and referral hospitals) to enhance Banfield's brand reputation.

Ensure facility operations comply with all local, state, and federal regulations, including controlled substance management and radiation safety.

Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Comfortable around pets (e.g., dogs, cats, birds, reptiles).

Work volume may require more than 40 hours per week to fulfill essential responsibilities.

This role may involve special hours, including weekends and evenings.

Moderate noise levels in the work environment.

Ability to follow instructions and solve problems involving multiple variables.

Physical ability to perform duties in the hospital environment, including lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.

Good hand-eye coordination and visual acuity for operating medical equipment.

Exposure to various pets and occasional exposure to anesthesia, radiation, and biological hazards.

Some travel may be required to assist other facilities and for educational purposes.


DEA:

Candidate must obtain state controlled substance and federal DEA within the specified timeframe of employment.


USDA:
Accredited by the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.

Veterinary license in good standing or eligibility for licensure with the applicable state veterinary board.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in small animal medicine and surgery.
