With numerous contracts secured for propulsion modules and satellites, we are in search of an AI & Test Operations Leader to enhance the design and manufacturing processes of all spacecraft components.

The AI & Test Operations Manager plays a vital role within the Production Operations management team, tasked with supervising personnel and projects to ensure they meet customer requirements and adhere to industry standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a combination of technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership capabilities, along with the aptitude to foster strong relationships with team members, clients, and partners. Comprehensive experience in spacecraft manufacturing and testing is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Role Overview

As the AI & Test Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the integration and assembly of spacecraft systems throughout the entire program lifecycle, managing team activities and timelines. You will develop the functional AI & Test program and lead a team dedicated to creating travelers, test plans, procedures, and executing tests.

  • Coordinate spacecraft hardware management by planning AI & Test tasks and daily activities across all stakeholders, including your team, program management, system and sub-system engineers, technicians, and quality assurance personnel.

Management & Work Environment

  • Collaborate in a team-oriented environment with the flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Act as the Staff Manager for the production and testing team; guide the team and mentor other stakeholders in manufacturing and testing; provide training and mentorship to engineers and technicians, and offer constructive feedback on documentation; assist with staffing to align with company objectives.
  • Ensure that the production and testing areas and personnel are fully trained and compliant with customer and quality management system requirements for quality, inspections, foreign object damage, electrostatic discharge, and specific handling of space hardware.

What You Will Be Engaged In:

  • Identify and procure testing equipment to fulfill testing requirements.
  • Draft, review, update, and implement integration travelers and test plans.
  • Collaborate with systems and design engineering to facilitate verification planning and testing.
  • Prepare and/or support key presentations to clients.
  • Interface and coordinate with clients and suppliers for program, design, and peer reviews.
  • Provide ongoing insights regarding the scope of work, schedule, and costs to program management, including staffing forecasts and labor hours, as well as other direct costs for executing activities.
  • Offer technical guidance and support to teams of engineers and technicians.
  • Define necessary ground support equipment to support programs; assist in the design and implementation of such equipment.
  • Lead safety initiatives for the workshop and facility, ensuring proper measures are in place for personal protective equipment, procedures, and travelers. Ensure all operations are conducted safely, professionally, and on schedule. Participate in process/job hazard assessments and test readiness reviews.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and supply chain teams to ensure successful program logistics execution; support make/buy decisions and vendor selection.
  • Oversee build and flow development and identify manufacturing development needs.
  • Identify and implement tooling and facility requirements to meet customer handling and quality standards.
  • Conduct design for manufacturability reviews of hardware.
  • Support the creation of engineering integration documentation.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
  • 7-15 years of experience in a production or testing environment.
  • Experience with aerospace or similar rigorous systems.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 processes and certification.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Highly Desirable Skills

  • Experience in aerospace testing.
  • Experience with spacecraft fabrication and testing processes.
  • Proficiency in non-conformance resolution.

Work Schedule

  • 8-hour shifts.
  • Monday to Friday.
  • Overtime as required.
