Key responsibilities include operating Construction Material Testing (CMT) equipment both in the laboratory and on-site to assess the engineering characteristics of various materials, including soil, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt.

Applicants should be proficient in conducting testing protocols in accordance with the standards set by the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), and the American Concrete Institute (ACI). Typical testing procedures may encompass:

  • Soil Testing: moisture content, classification (Atterberg limits), specific gravity, grain size analysis (sieve and hydrometer test), standard and modified moisture density relationship (Proctor tests).
  • Aggregate Testing: gradations and relative density.
  • Concrete Testing: air content, slump, and strength assessments.
  • Asphalt Testing: asphalt content of mixtures via ignition method, stability and flow evaluations using the Marshall method.
