Physical Education and Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Physical Education and Health Specialist to join our team at Sheppard Pratt School. As a member of our special education team, you will play a critical role in helping students with diverse learning needs and disabilities develop lifelong habits of wellness, sportsmanship, and self-care.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, in collaboration with parents, school administrators, and support staff.
- Plan and implement evidence-based instruction that meets the developmental, emotional, and behavioral needs and learning styles of students with diverse abilities.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic and social-emotional growth.
- Collaborate with the behavioral and clinical teams to develop and implement plans for students with behavioral needs.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.

- Bachelor's degree.
- Must have an MSDE educator license in special education, or other content area as appropriate for the assignment, OR be able to demonstrate eligibility to apply for licensure within 30 days of employment.
- 3 months of progressively more responsible work experience.
- A current certification in physical education is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting students with a range of needs, including autism spectrum disorder and emotional disabilities is strongly preferred.
