This position requires in-office work three days a week.
About Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA)MEDA is dedicated to empowering low- and moderate-income Latino families in San Francisco by fostering economic equity and social justice through various community development initiatives. Our comprehensive strategies aim to create sustainable asset-building opportunities in the Mission District, focusing on:
- Integrated Asset Building Programs encompassing housing, financial literacy, workforce development, and tax assistance.
- Educational advancement through the Mission Promise Neighborhood's two-generation approach.
- Affordable housing and commercial real estate preservation in the Mission District.
- Access to capital and business support via MEDA's Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI).
- Policy advocacy to further our mission.
- Sharing best practices with local and national partners.
The Development and Communication Officer will be an integral member of a dedicated eight-person team, engaging in various activities such as:
- Leading or assisting in the preparation of funding proposals (up to $50,000) for corporate and foundation grants.
- Maintaining the Development department's Salesforce database for grant and donor records.
- Coordinating with executive staff for grant agreement signatures.
- Supporting the reconciliation of online donations and donor records.
- Facilitating funder meetings and communications.
- Coordinating logistics for virtual and in-person events, including major fundraising galas.
- Contributing to grassroots donor campaigns and appeals.
- Developing tailored presentations aligned with MEDA's programming priorities.
- Collaborating with the Communications team to generate engaging social media content.
- Assisting in the production of newsletters and external communications.
- Balancing responsibilities with approximately 75% focus on Development and 25% on Communications.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
- Three to five years of fundraising experience in a nonprofit setting.
- Proficiency in fund development and CRM databases, particularly Salesforce.
- Exceptional writing skills with attention to detail, especially in grant writing.
- Strong presentation and meeting facilitation abilities.
- Experience in event planning and coordination.
- Excellent networking and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of community development, housing, and education is advantageous.
- Experience with graphic design tools is a plus.
- Ability to create and edit engaging social media content.
