Job Title: Peer Recovery Specialist

About the Role:

The Peer Recovery Specialist will play a vital role in supporting individuals with substance use and/or mental health concerns. This position will coordinate with clinicians and community organizations to identify and address client needs, provide intervention and support services, and assist clients in achieving therapeutic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of recovery and harm reduction processes, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing individualized recovery plans for clients, including goals and objectives
  • Practicing a strengths-based approach to recovery and wellness
  • Engaging peers in collaborative and caring relationships
  • Documenting encounters in the electronic health record, as appropriate
  • Monitoring client progress and providing ongoing support and guidance
  • Performing standardized screening instruments with clients, including assessment of social determinants of health
  • Connecting clients to appropriate community resources and services
  • Providing crisis intervention and support services
  • Providing education and resources to clients and families
  • Facilitating weekly recovery groups
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Preparing and submitting reports to funding agencies, as needed
  • Coordinating with other professionals to ensure continuity of care
Requirements:

The successful candidate will have lived experience with substance use, mental health concerns, homelessness, and/or sex work, bilingual English/Spanish skills, and recovery support specialist training and certification. At least one year of experience working in a recovery-oriented setting is required, as well as demonstrated knowledge of substance use, harm reduction, and mental health services. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is also required.
