As a Ophthalmic Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the physician and contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate patient care with other healthcare services or outside providers
  • Act as a liaison between the physician, mid-level provider, and other healthcare professionals
  • Assist in the development and implementation of patient care plans
  • Provide administrative support to the healthcare team

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant or completion of a Clinical Medical Assistant program required
  • LPN preferred
  • Five years of ophthalmic office experience (in lieu of education requirement) required
  • Two years of experience in an ophthalmology or optometric office setting preferred
  • Knowledge of human physiology and anatomy
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) required within two years of hire
  • Knowledge of various ophthalmic equipment preferred
  • Maintain Medical Assistant Certification or Practical Nurse licensure through the state of Pennsylvania
