Ophthalmic Assistant Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team at Washington University in St. Louis. As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you will provide advanced administrative and technical support to our ophthalmologists in a clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities- Perform kinetic and static visual fields tests (Goldman & Humphrey)
- Assist with the clinical work-up of patients, including a detailed patient history
- Help patients understand general office evaluation and physician instructions
- Perform gross refractions, keratometry, tonography, and tonometry
- Insert and remove patient contact lenses when necessary, and provide contact lens instruction to patients
- Perform BAT (Brightness acuity test) glare testing and PAM (Potential acuity meter) testing
- Perform A-Scan ultrasound testing
- Assist physicians with minor surgical procedures
- Travel between all clinics
- High school diploma or equivalent high school certification
- Completion of the AAO Home study course with one year supervised ophthalmologic office experience
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA)
- Basic Life Support certification
- Up to 22 days of vacation, 10 recognized holidays, and sick time
