Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Air Resource Engineer to join our team at the State of California. As a key member of our Air Quality Planning Branch, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategies to improve air quality throughout the state.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct SIP-related and general air quality planning functions, including working with local air districts to develop PM2.5 SIPs and coordinating the estimation of emissions inventories.
  • Evaluate air quality and emissions data, develop technical and/or statistical analyses, and assess regulations and other air quality documents as necessary to meet the PM2.5 standard throughout the state.
  • Lead the PM2.5 designations process, including coordinating with local districts, U.S. EPA Region 9, and internal stakeholders from recommended nonattainment areas to U.S. EPA designated nonattainment areas.
  • Brief CARB executive management, divisions, communities, stakeholders, and other local, state, or federal agencies on the PM2.5 air pollution problem, public concerns, and the path to healthy air.
Requirements
  • Strong project and personnel management skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal programs related to particulate matter and state implementation plans.
  • Ability to distill and convey highly technical information to upper management.
