Job Overview

The County Patrol Deputy is responsible for monitoring and safeguarding county roadways while providing assistance to citizens during both urgent and routine situations. This role involves responding to service calls as instructed, enforcing traffic regulations, issuing warnings and citations when necessary, directing traffic, attending to traffic incidents, and conducting DWI enforcement.

The Deputy is tasked with completing offense and incident reports and may be called upon to provide testimony in court. This position also includes executing warrants and making arrests in various environments, whether hostile or non-hostile. Additionally, the Deputy responds to animal control requests, investigates crime scenes, collects latent prints, captures photographs, and meticulously documents evidence to maintain the chain of custody, ensuring all evidence is secured in the agency's evidence holding facility.

Furthermore, the Deputy serves civil process documents and may be required to provide civil standby attendance. In certain situations, assistance may be rendered during SWAT operations. The Deputy is also expected to perform other duties as assigned by the agency.


Minimum Requirements:

A High School Diploma or GED is required as per the Texas Law Enforcement Commission for this role. A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Peace Officer or in a comparable field is necessary, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. If assigned to Juvenile Accountability, a minimum of 4 years of experience in a related field is required. A valid driver's license is essential, and the candidate must be able to obtain a State of Texas driver's license within 90 days. Certification as a Peace Officer in the State of Texas is mandatory. Candidates must not have any convictions for Family Violence Offenses and must not have been convicted of any offense above the level of Class B Misdemeanor in the past 10 years. Additionally, candidates must not have been discharged from the Military with a Bad Conduct or Dishonorable Discharge.

Applicants must be able to successfully complete the physical and psychological requirements mandated by the Texas Commission.
