Communications Officer

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Communications Officer to join our team at Cooke County Texas. As a key member of our public safety department, you will be responsible for providing critical communication services to emergency responders and the public.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and prioritize emergency and administrative calls, dispatching information to fire departments, police departments, and other emergency services as needed.
- Operate emergency and non-emergency communications systems, providing callers with direction and instruction as necessary.
- Enter and retrieve information from various databases, including TCIC/NCIC, Cooke County Computer Systems, and local emergency response databases.
- Process and maintain records of information obtained or entered, including complaints and services requested.
- Dispatch Sheriff Department and county personnel, including patrol, criminal investigations, and special enforcement units.
- Monitor and dispatch proper authorities for alarms received from county buildings.
- Run and enter data in state and national databases for stolen goods, wanted persons, protected persons, and missing, runaway, or endangered persons.
- Track emergency service personnel's location and perform other related duties as required.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Within 1 year of being assigned to position, must satisfactorily complete applicable CCSO training program; obtain Telecommunicator Operator certification by the State of Texas; obtain TCIC/NCIC certification by the State of Texas and attain acceptable levels of proficiency in the Computer Aided Dispatch and Cooke County Criminal Justice Computer System.
