Job Overview

Position Summary: Responsible for overseeing the execution, coordination, and reporting of moderately complex project-oriented tasks. This role drives the planning and organization of departmental initiatives, ensuring that project objectives are clearly defined and achieved within set timelines and budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement project management frameworks and methodologies for the designated user community; ensure timely delivery of projects within budget while maintaining high quality standards and meeting client expectations.
  • Facilitate the review of project proposals and plans; establish timelines and procedures for project completion.
  • Comprehend both the technical and operational scope of projects while ensuring team commitment to the delivery strategy.
  • Deliver project outcomes in alignment with Synovus' Project Governance Framework.
  • Direct and oversee daily work efforts, identifying resource requirements while monitoring and reporting on demand and capacity limitations.
  • Conduct regular quality assessments and escalate any functional, quality, or timeline issues as necessary, ensuring follow-through to resolution.
  • Track critical project milestones and adjust plans or resources as needed to align with project demands.
  • Prepare comprehensive status reports in collaboration with key stakeholders and business sponsors.
  • Adhere to established standards and procedures for project documentation and reporting.
  • Coordinate communication across all enterprise areas that influence the scope, budget, risk, and resources of the managed projects.
  • Manage requests for changes from original specifications, ensuring effective communication and impact analysis of changes.
  • Work closely with end users, business technologists, and other stakeholders to understand and prioritize business objectives and information requirements; participate in the development of system requirements and design specifications.

Compliance Standards:

  • Ensure adherence to Synovus project governance standards while maintaining readiness for internal and external quality reviews and audits.

Collaboration:

Assist fellow Project Managers and/or Business Analysts in identifying and prioritizing opportunities to leverage technical and functional resources to meet enterprise goals, ensuring that project dependencies are clearly defined and addressed.

Project Management Tools:

Drive project scheduling, resource allocation, forecasting, time entry, and project controls using standard project management tools to ensure appropriate budget allocation and capitalization.

Risk Awareness:

Each team member is expected to be vigilant regarding risks within their functional area, including compliance with all policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and risk limits specific to their role. Any known or suspected violations should be reported to the appropriate company authority promptly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in various organizations or lines of business.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Experience:

At least 3 years of diverse technical and non-technical work experience, including a minimum of 2 years in project management. Experience with projects across multiple technologies and functions, as well as demonstrated experience in managing customer relationships.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, resource management practices, and change management techniques.
  • Understanding of how to leverage business applications for competitive advantage.
  • Familiarity with current technologies and the software development process, including requirements gathering, analysis and design, development tools and technologies, release and version control, contemporary testing methodologies, and deployment management.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management capabilities, with the ability to multitask and manage multiple projects of varying sizes in a cross-functional environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Visio, and MS Project.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills at all management levels.
  • Ability to blend creativity, problem-solving, and technical skills to refine existing theories or develop new approaches.
  • Capacity to present and explain technical information effectively, establishing rapport and persuading others.
  • Ability to communicate needs and schedules to IT and clients, while establishing and maintaining a high level of customer trust and confidence.
