Mechanical Process Project Engineer

This role entails overseeing Project Management for the design and advancement of helium process systems throughout all phases of the project life cycle associated with the Advanced Reactor Demonstration Project (ARDP). Key responsibilities include planning, budgeting, scheduling, and executing projects ranging from small to medium scale, with budgets between approximately $5 million and $25 million, contributing to the success of larger projects and program objectives. The position operates at both strategic and tactical levels to comprehend client needs, ensure compliance with contractual and technical specifications, communicate project requirements to external vendors and internal teams, and guarantee that project execution aligns with program goals and standards. This involves leading the evaluation and resolution of implementation strategies, identifying process improvement opportunities, and managing the execution of both external and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the creation of project baseline documentation, including budget, schedule, execution plans, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with corporate policies and processes.
  • Facilitate coordination of inputs and commitments from various departments essential for project execution, including Finance, Procurement, Engineering, and Quality Assurance.
  • Collaborate across interrelated projects where shared customers, designs, or documentation exist.
  • Evaluate and authorize business analyses and make decisions regarding subcontracting and procurement as necessary.
  • Assess technical and programmatic approaches to ensure they meet contract objectives in accordance with project governance.
  • Monitor the performance of subcontractors and internal teams through regular reports, meetings, and reviews to ensure compliance with agreements.
  • Manage project performance metrics, including risk management, scheduling, document control, and adherence to budget.
  • Define and communicate deliverable acceptability criteria and evaluate deliverables against these standards.
  • Support a culture of safety and ensure quality integration in all processes by adhering to the Quality Assurance Program.
  • Maintain professionalism in all communications and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related discipline.
  • Typically requires over ten years of experience in engineering or engineering management within the energy, nuclear, petrochemical, or high-technology sectors.
  • Experience in comprehensive system development from concept to delivery, particularly in nuclear safety systems and operations.
  • Proven experience as a technical lead or in proposal management.
  • Familiarity with nuclear regulatory codes or stringent quality assurance programs.
  • Preferred experience in process system design and high-pressure helium or gas systems.
  • Knowledge of ASME BPVC standards is advantageous.
  • Experience with radiochemistry or design of radioactive waste systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with helium purification or gas analysis systems is preferred.
