Job Title: Wafer Fabrication Engineer

nLIGHT is seeking a highly skilled Wafer Fabrication Engineer to join our team in Vancouver, Washington. As a Wafer Fabrication Engineer, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement activities in a manufacturing environment of released products and sustaining production processes as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity in wafer fabrication.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth transition of new products from prototype to volume production.
  • Work towards continuous improvement opportunities and yield metrics utilizing wide variety of analytical techniques (such as SPC, DOE, Gauge R&R), lean manufacturing and six sigma concepts.
  • Support manufacturing of released processes and products including generating BOMs and routes, documenting work instructions and support training of personnel.
  • Evaluate, procure, and qualify new manufacturing equipment and materials.
Requirements:
  • BS or higher in Engineering (Physics, Material, Optical, Electrical, Chemical and Mechanical) or exceptional industrial experience in closely related technologies.
  • Two years of recent experience in semiconductor laser wafer fabrication.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor device physics, Thin Film Processes and Materials Science.
  • Technical understanding of wafer fabrication processes, material interactions, processes, dominant failure mechanisms and analytical techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to do failure and root cause analysis and find effective solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills allowing for effective communication in to work with cross functional & multi-site teams.
  • Experience with mechanical drawings, basic tooling and fixture design.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and design of experiment.
