Job Title: IT Operations Leader

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Operations Leader to join our team at the University of Miami Health System. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for overseeing the IT-related production ecosystem and leading the IT response to non-cybersecurity production events across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage the IT-related production ecosystem, including infrastructure, systems, and applications, to ensure optimal performance, availability, and reliability.
  • Lead the IT response to any non-cybersecurity production events that may arise across the enterprise, including identifying root causes, implementing solutions, and mitigating risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement IT operational strategies, policies, and procedures that align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance IT operations efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide strategic guidance and technical expertise to senior leadership on IT operations-related matters.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor and evaluate the performance of IT operations.
  • Report outstanding support and maintenance issues and follow through to ensure effective resolutions.
  • Oversee and ensure the implementation scenarios for testing the relevant portions of IT systems in terms of data integrity, end user functionality, and application of developed work rules.
  • Assist in the documentation, development, and implementation of newly required state, federal, and local guidelines and regulations.
  • Provide consistency and assurance that all appropriate support and enhancements requirements are obtained.
  • Establish and continuously assess the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
Department Specific Functions:
  • Coordinate IT Operations: Work closely with specialist teams to ensure that the hardware, software, and networking components of the company's IT system are up-to-date and functioning efficiently.
  • Lead IT Production Support Incident Response: In the event of a non-cybersecurity incident that impacts the normal operations of production IT systems, lead the over IT response to restore the impacted system(s) to service as fast as possible.
  • Oversee System Maintenance and Upgrades: Ensure that maintenance activities are performed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Monitor IT Infrastructure: Use information technology control tools and real-time reporting systems.
  • Coordinate the Hour-to-Hour Production Support Activity of IT Teams: Work closely with software engineers, programmers, and technicians to ensure effective performance of job duties.
  • Provide Input to IT Budgets: Play a vital role in the planning of IT budgets, ensuring that they are allocated effectively to meet the organization's needs.

This is a full-time position that requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in IT Operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Thorough knowledge of networks and cloud computing is essential. Proven experience in IT operations management, knowledge of business and management principles, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are also required.
