Job Description & Responsibilities:

As a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room, you will:

  • Assess patients' conditions prior to surgical procedures.
  • Ensure the Operating Room is equipped with all necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room.
  • Assist surgeons by passing medical instruments during operations.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs throughout the surgical process.
  • Evaluate patients post-surgery and review charts for completeness according to documentation protocols.
  • Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

Clinical Judgment: Utilize clinical reasoning to conduct thorough assessments in line with practice standards, prioritizing patient and family needs, and developing a comprehensive nursing care plan.

Clinical Inquiry: Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices, contributing to evidence-based practice changes through research and experiential learning.

Caring Practices: Foster a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families, developing supportive relationships while managing pain effectively.

Response to Diversity: Recognize and incorporate the unique differences of patients and families into individualized care plans.

Advocacy and Moral Agency: Protect the confidentiality, autonomy, dignity, and rights of patients and families, ensuring their values and goals are reflected in care plans.

Facilitation of Learning: Educate patients, families, and healthcare team members, integrating relevant education throughout the care continuum.

Partnership: Collaborate with colleagues and the community to develop and implement integrated care plans, ensuring timely follow-up on delegated tasks.

Systems Thinking: Employ problem-solving strategies and resources effectively, considering safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care delivery.

Professionalism: Enhance nursing practice and the work environment through active participation in governance and recognizing the contributions of others.

MUST HAVE:

RN license, BLS (AHA) certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of starting in this role.

Education & Experience Requirements:

BSN with a minimum of 1 year of RN experience in the US. Must have experience in Scrubbing and Circulating, with at least 1 year in ENT and Robotics surgery on the da Vinci XI/da Vinci SP (experience with both is highly preferred but not required).
