Job Description & Responsibilities:
As a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room, you will:
- Assess patients' conditions prior to surgical procedures.
- Ensure the Operating Room is equipped with all necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment.
- Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room.
- Assist surgeons by passing medical instruments during operations.
- Monitor patients' vital signs throughout the surgical process.
- Evaluate patients post-surgery and review charts for completeness in accordance with documentation protocols.
- Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Clinical Judgment: Conduct thorough clinical assessments and prioritize patient needs. Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans.
Clinical Inquiry: Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Caring Practices: Create a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families, managing pain effectively.
Response to Diversity: Recognize and incorporate the unique differences of patients and families into individualized care plans.
Advocacy and Moral Agency: Protect the rights and dignity of patients and families, ensuring their values are reflected in care plans.
Facilitation of Learning: Provide education to patients, families, and staff, assessing learning needs and outcomes.
Partnership: Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement integrated care plans.
Systems Thinking: Utilize resources effectively for problem-solving in patient care.
Professionalism: Engage in mutual governance and recognize the contributions of others to improve nursing practice.
MUST HAVE: RN license, BLS (AHA) or obtain within 30 days of starting in this role.
Education & Experience Requirements: BSN with 1+ year of RN experience in the US. Must have experience in Scrubbing and Circulating, preferably in ENT and Robotics surgery on the da Vinci XI/da Vinci SP.
