Position Summary

The Sous Chef plays a crucial role in ensuring the consistent planning, production, and delivery of high-quality food and beverages. This position encompasses managing kitchen operations, including food procurement, preparation, and maintaining quality standards. The Sous Chef is also responsible for sanitation, employee training, and cost control.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and mentor the kitchen team, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Oversee the preparation of diverse food items using various cooking methods and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with management and team members regarding labor and service needs.
- Assist in recruitment and onboarding processes for kitchen staff.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure adherence to recipe specifications and kitchen standards.
- Maintain inventory levels and ensure proper food storage practices.
- Monitor food quality and address any issues with vendors.
- Create a positive work atmosphere through open communication and support.

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED; Culinary degree preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role within a high-volume food service environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Servsafe certification or equivalent food safety training.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for events.
