Job SummaryThe Vice President, Accounting will play a key role on the Accounting team, working closely with the EVP of Accounting / Finance & HR and the SVP of Accounting. This position will be responsible for ensuring the department operates effectively and efficiently, issuing timely and complete financial statements, and meeting all internal and external reporting deadlines.
This position will also be responsible for managing the daily accounting functions, utilizing best practices and ensuring high-level performance of the newly implemented SAGE Intacct software. A successful candidate will be extremely detail-oriented, with excellent organizational skills, and a team player who can complete departmental tasks and adapt to an evolving business structure in a high-growth environment.
Primary Responsibilities:- Assist with preparation and accuracy of monthly financial statements by prescribed deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist with the creation and review of the annual and monthly department budgets and forecasts.
- Assist with monthly cash flow projection report to ensure proper liquidity to meet operational needs.
- Analyze financial data (balance sheet and income statement) on a monthly basis and provide insights to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate with the EVP & SVP to ensure timely completion of audits and preparation and filing of tax returns.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting and finance operations excluding AR & AP.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and procedures.
- Assist with implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of ERP system ensuring data integrity and optimizing processes.
- Supervise accounting staff.
- Maintain and document accounting policies and procedures and contribute to efforts to streamline processes and implement best practices.
- Provide financial analysis and support for special projects, acquisitions, or other initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and/or MBA is highly desirable.
- Minimum 7-10 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including 3+ years in an accounting managerial role.
- Experience in Not-for-profit accounting is advantageous.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of taxes, including unrelated business income tax (UBIT) and other relevant tax regulations.
- Strong analytical skills to develop and implement improvements and recommendations.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with senior executives and staff at all levels, as well as mentor and lead team members.
- Experience with accounting software system implementation and development is a plus, SAGE Intacct experience preferred.
Starting pay range: $130,000 to $140,000, based on relevant experience and qualifications.
