A Host at Charlie Bird plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between guests and the Management team, ensuring a warm and inviting atmosphere for all patrons. This position serves as the primary point of contact between the entrance, management, and kitchen staff. Exceptional guest recognition abilities are essential, along with proficiency in our reservation system, Resy, in accordance with Charlie Bird's standards.


Key Collaborations

Engaging closely with the Front of House Managers and team members to deliver a flawless front door experience for every guest.

Policies and Guidelines

  • Punctuality is essential; arrive prepared and in compliance with the dress code for all scheduled shifts.
  • Accurately clock in and out for each shift and break, demonstrating effective use of time and attendance systems.
  • Adhere to all policies and guidelines set forth by Charlie Bird and Delicious Hospitality Group (DHG).

Enhancing Guest Experience

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of front door protocols and execute them with efficiency and poise, ensuring a sense of urgency throughout service.
  • Manage reservation and prepayment inquiries through CB Info accounts.
  • Promptly acknowledge and respond to all requests via reservation communication channels.

Front Door Operations & Table Service

  • Anticipate guest needs from the outset of their dining experience, fostering strong relationships and encouraging repeat visits. Create a welcoming atmosphere upon guest arrival and departure.
  • Initiate beverage service at tables, providing sparkling or still water, and taking initial drink orders.
  • Facilitate table turnover by assisting the support team with clearing dishes and setting up for the next guests.
  • Drive revenue by efficiently managing the reservation book and balancing walk-in guests.
  • Recognize regular patrons and VIPs, noting special occasions and specific reservation requests.
  • Maintain constant communication with team members and management throughout service to ensure optimal guest service and support.
  • Exhibit speed and accuracy when utilizing the Resy platform during service.
  • Provide timely table updates and assist in managing the waitlist.
  • Responsible for distributing service tickets effectively.
  • Complete all assigned side work reliably.
  • Ensure the coat check area is organized and tidy, setting up teammates for success for the following day.

Menu Proficiency

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of the menu and be prepared to answer questions regarding operational hours, restaurant history, and basic information about DHG and its affiliated establishments.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Prior experience as a Host in a high-volume dining establishment with standards comparable to Charlie Bird.
  • Familiarity with reservation platforms such as Open Table or Resy.
  • Experience with Google Suite applications.
  • Exceptional communication skills to effectively engage with guests and colleagues.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently.
  • Strong understanding of applicable NYC Department of Health standards.
  • Previous experience in the restaurant industry is preferred.
