Overview:

Mortenson is in search of a knowledgeable Assistant Superintendent to oversee and coordinate the efforts of subcontractors and craft personnel within a specific construction discipline.


Key Responsibilities:

Effective communication is essential as you will engage with team members at all levels in a dynamic setting. Your adaptability, creativity, commitment, and integrity will be crucial to your success.


Travel Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Lead project labor, including craft labor and subcontractors.
  • Monitor and resolve issues highlighted in weekly labor reports.
  • Review and authorize craft worker certifications and training for specialized roles.
  • Participate in site orientation training and safety meetings.
  • Coordinate the review and approval of craft worker timecards.
  • Assist in the hiring and dismissal processes of craft workers.
  • Oversee on-site operations and scope of work, including equipment, labor, and scheduling.
  • Provide guidance on activities such as setup, work in place, and project closeout.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers on schedule development and updates.
  • Coordinate with equipment facilities and external providers for necessary project equipment.
  • Review and confirm quantity takeoffs and materials management during the procurement process.
  • Lead scope(s) of work, Production, Innovation Boards, and Plan of Day (POD) activities.

Other duties may include:

  • Supporting the Safety Manager with site safety audits and observations.
  • Managing quality control for both self-performed and subcontracted work.
  • Overseeing the orientation, training, and performance evaluations of craft team members.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in construction supervision or a related field.
  • A valid Driver's license.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects from development to closeout.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple project tasks.
  • A basic understanding of construction law and standard business practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management software, and relevant web applications.
  • A positive, professional demeanor with excellent customer service skills.
  • The ability to interpret and communicate company policies effectively.

Education:

A Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management, or equivalent experience is required. Completion of or interest in a Master, Journeyman, or Apprentice electrician program is preferred.
