Position Overview

Salary:
This role is pivotal in overseeing all on-site construction activities. Responsibilities include managing subcontractor schedules, resolving issues, inspecting work to ensure adherence to quality standards, compliance with plans, and enforcing safety protocols. Collaboration with the entire project team is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Project Management staff during the pre-construction phase through site visits and meetings with contractors to clarify construction methods, define project scopes, and establish timelines.
  • Foster and uphold a strong safety culture within the construction team through consistent practices. Conduct daily job site safety audits to mitigate potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Lead weekly toolbox safety discussions during foreman meetings.
  • Maintain thorough documentation including daily logs, job site inspections, near misses, written warnings, meeting minutes, and safety orientations for subcontractors.
  • Review contractor responsibilities and ensure accountability. Collaborate with the Project Manager to confirm comprehensive scope coverage and identify any gaps early in the process.
  • Develop and maintain the project schedule, providing weekly updates and communicating effectively with all foremen. Ensure timely communication of schedule changes to all affected subcontractors and vendors to avoid delays.
  • Complete punch list items within the designated timeframe and provide the Project Management team with all necessary documentation and as-built drawings during the closeout meeting. Schedule and document training for end-user personnel on all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and safety equipment.
  • Ensure the job site remains clean, safe, and organized. Communicate site utilization and storage areas throughout the project. Coordinate activities efficiently to prevent delays.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Superintendent.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong work ethic and thorough understanding of all construction trades.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively schedule and coordinate subcontractors to meet project demands.
  • Commitment to building and maintaining relationships with the project team, clients, architects, local authorities, and subcontractors.
  • Goal-oriented with the ability to respond quickly to challenges and make informed decisions.
  • Exceptional accuracy and timeliness in executing responsibilities while meeting deadlines.
  • Familiarity with local codes and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations is advantageous.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; familiarity with Microsoft Project and Procore is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to various job sites as required.
Physical Demands / Work Environment

This position requires work at construction sites, both indoors and outdoors. Overtime may be necessary to meet project deadlines. The role involves:

  • Manual dexterity and the ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling as needed.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Occasional sitting and lifting/moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Basic carpentry tasks as required.

Work Environment: Employees may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, airborne particles, and varying weather conditions. Occasional exposure to toxic chemicals, electrical hazards, and vibrations may occur. The noise level in the work environment is typically loud.
