Role Responsibilities

  • Assist patients in accessing the DME area and prepare them for fittings.
  • Manage the application and removal of casts, splints, and braces.
  • Educate patients on the proper use of medical equipment.
  • Oversee inventory management within DME and medication dispensing areas.
  • Provide patients with informative materials regarding equipment and casts.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and clinical teams concerning DME items and medications dispensed in the office.
  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain stock across all clinical sites under the guidance of the DME Manager.
  • Offer coverage at other locations as directed by the DME Manager.
  • Ensure accurate documentation for any items dispensed in the office.
  • Provide weekend and evening coverage at other clinics as needed.
  • Participate in meetings and fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Certification as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) is preferred.
  • American Heart Association's Certification - BLS Certified or willingness to obtain certification through in-house training sessions.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a DME or orthopedic environment.
  • Experience in a clinical DME setting is preferred, but training will be provided.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. While executing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee may be on their feet for extended periods and may need to assist in transporting patients using stretchers and wheelchairs. These tasks can be challenging, especially when working with injured individuals. There may be exposure to anesthetic gases, hazardous chemicals, blood and body fluids, sharps, and cleaning solutions. The employee frequently needs to move all extremities within a full range of motion and may need to stoop and bend at 90 degrees. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision.
