Key Responsibilities:
As an Automation Engineer, you will engage in the research, development, design, and testing of a diverse range of equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems tailored for commercial and industrial applications.

Your role will involve preparing specifications for automation equipment, data sheets, purchase requisitions, and bid evaluations, focusing on OT/IT convergence, open process automation, digital twins, edge-to-cloud integration, asset performance optimization, and traditional automation technologies.

You will conduct thorough technical evaluations, assess the suitability of equipment and materials, and clarify supplier bids, culminating in comprehensive technical reports to facilitate order placements.
Additionally, you will lead technical discussions and meetings with suppliers and clients, collaborating closely with instrument engineers, process engineers, technologists, designers, and other stakeholders to deliver automation engineering and design outputs across various projects.

Your designs will require creativity and innovation, and you will be responsible for reviewing vendor documentation and ensuring quality control of all deliverables within the automation discipline.

Collaboration and Communication:
You will interface with project management and clients, liaising with other project disciplines to ensure seamless project execution. Your role will also include assisting in the preparation of cost estimates and defining scopes of work for automation systems.

Building and maintaining effective relationships with key suppliers, customers, and both internal and external service providers or contractors will be essential. Effective communication with project team members and customers is crucial, and you may provide technical guidance to less experienced design and engineering personnel.


Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • Experience in the engineering and design of onshore and/or offshore oil & gas or energy facilities, particularly in areas such as OT/IT convergence, open process automation, digital twins, edge-to-cloud integration, asset performance optimization, and traditional automation technologies.
  • Proficiency in working with DCS, SCADA, PLC, HMI, Safety Systems, Fire and Gas, and Networking.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A collaborative approach to working with market leaders to understand and implement new technologies, tools, methodologies, and applications.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in Automation Engineering; offshore project experience is advantageous.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in advanced MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is preferred, along with experience in Microsoft Project. Programming skills (C/C++, Visual Basic, etc.) are also desirable.

Familiarity with Honeywell Experion PKS DCS & C200/300 Controllers, Pi Historian, Yokogawa Centum VP DCS, Prosafe RS SIS, Stardom RTU, Rockwell Control Logix PLC, Factory Talk, and PanelView HMI, as well as Modicon Unity PLCs and various industrial communication networks, will be beneficial.


Education:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrument Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science is required. An NCEES P.E. License is preferred.
