Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Special Education Paraprofessional. This role will provide support to students with special needs, working closely with teachers to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with Student Assessments: Collaborate with teachers to assess student performance levels and develop strategies to support their learning.
  • Support Instructional Activities: Assist with the instruction of individual and group students, focusing on their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
  • Provide Physical and Emotional Support: Assist with the feeding, toileting, physical care, and health needs of students, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Develop and Maintain Work Experience Sites: Assist in the development and maintenance of work experience sites, providing students with opportunities for hands-on learning.
  • Apply Student Management Procedures: Assist with the application of student management procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient learning environment.
  • Record and Maintain Student Data: Assist with the recording and maintaining of student performance data, helping teachers to track student progress.
  • Prepare Instructional Materials: Assist with the preparation of instructional and other materials, supporting teachers in their planning and preparation.
  • Perform Organizational and Clerical Tasks: Perform organizational and clerical tasks as assigned, ensuring the smooth operation of the classroom.
  • Communicate Effectively: Communicate clearly and make independent decisions within established policies and procedures.
  • Establish and Maintain Relationships: Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, teachers, and other staff members.
  • Participate in Professional Growth: Participate in professional growth activities, staying up-to-date with best practices in special education.
  • Comply with District Policies: Comply with district's rules and policies, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Perform Physical Requirements: Perform physical requirements unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodations.
Qualifications
  • Education: Associate's degree or two years of full-time college, or a passing grade on the paraprofessional exam.
  • Communication and Organizational Skills: Ability to organize and communicate effectively, following directions and learning new procedures.
  • Physical and Emotional Support: Ability to provide care for student's physical needs, project a friendly and supportive attitude, and obtain CPR and First Aid training certification.
  • Work Ethic and Teamwork: Proven work ethic, ability to learn and follow delegable medical procedures, and successful completion of Oregon School-based fingerprinting and criminal history verification.
