Position Overview:
Under the direct guidance of a certified educator or administrator, this role involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at supporting the educational framework by engaging with students in both individual and group settings. The position entails preparing instructional resources, upholding classroom order, and executing planned activities utilizing methods and materials designated by the educator.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be highly qualified, possessing either two years of higher education with proof of 48 completed semester credits or 72 completed quarter credits, an Associate's degree or higher, or a passing score on the Praxis exam. Candidates must also demonstrate the physical capability to comply with OSHA and district safety standards.

Health and Safety Compliance:
Adherence to the district's communicable disease control plan is essential, including awareness of potential exposure to hazardous materials as outlined in the MSDS sheets. Ensuring student safety and security is a critical responsibility of this role, which is classified as safety-sensitive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Must hold certification to operate a Type 20 Activity Vehicle (specific to the Transition Program).
  • Assist individual students and small groups to reinforce educational programs and instructional strategies.
  • Provide additional supervision for students in various settings including classrooms, playgrounds, lunchrooms, hallways, and other designated areas.
  • Support the preparation of instructional materials and maintain accurate record-keeping.
  • Track student performance and progress, ensuring alignment with Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
  • Engage effectively with children, parents, and educational staff while upholding the moral standards expected of educators.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters related to the Klamath County School District.
  • Assist with personal care tasks including feeding, toileting, and health needs, while adhering to hygiene protocols.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and implement medical policies and procedures promptly.
  • Become certified and proficient in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) techniques.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, including training in CPI, lifting/transfer techniques, and First Aid/CPR.
  • Regular attendance is a fundamental requirement of this position.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge and experience in supporting students with specific disabilities.
  • Supervise students during scheduled activities and collect data while implementing educational and behavioral programs.
