Position Overview

The Clinical Coordinator at Western University of Health Sciences plays a pivotal role in managing the clinical education for students enrolled in nursing programs, particularly those pursuing nurse practitioner qualifications. This position requires active engagement in various academic activities and committees pertinent to the college's mission.

  • Expertise in software tools such as MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams, along with proficiency in video conferencing platforms like Zoom, and familiarity with internet and database applications. Knowledge of learning management systems, including Canvas, is also essential.
  • Ability to swiftly adapt to new software, processes, and operational procedures.
  • Exhibits a strong commitment to confidentiality concerning job responsibilities and sensitive information.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in collaborating with individuals from varied professional backgrounds and educational levels, both within the institution and externally.
  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication capabilities.
  • Self-driven and effective in collaborative team settings.
  • Adaptable and flexible, thriving in dynamic work environments.
  • Willingness to work during evenings and weekends as necessary to support program initiatives and events.

Essential Qualifications

1. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

2. A minimum of four years of relevant experience in an academic or business support role.

Desirable Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree coupled with two years of experience in clinical placement coordination and/or nursing education programs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Coordination

  • Oversee the coordination of clinical placements for students in the nurse practitioner program.
  • Engage in clinical meetings and relevant discussions pertaining to NP Programs.
  • Assist with the GN 7570 – Clinical Experiences course alongside Program Directors and Clinical Advisors.

2. Clinical Partnership Development

  • Facilitate the enhancement of existing clinical partnerships for the college.
  • Expand clinical site opportunities for prospective students.
  • Ensure the appropriateness of all clinical training locations for students.

3. College Engagement

  • Optimize clinical placement efforts in collaboration with the College Clinical Operations team.
  • Participate in college-wide events and program meetings that require staff involvement.
  • Contribute to college-wide meetings and committees, including the Clinical Operations Committee.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the college and university.

4. University Representation

  • Engage in university events such as Commencement and White Coat ceremonies.
  • Represent the department in university committees as needed.
