Position Title: Combustion & Controls Technician

Key Responsibilities:

  • Employs diagnostic tools and meters, alongside mechanical and electrical expertise, to ignite boilers and associated equipment, ensuring proper functionality before and during installation.
  • Independently conducts start-up procedures for boilers and related systems.
  • Interprets various forms of instructions, including written, oral, diagrams, or schedules.
  • Supports the Service team by executing field service calls for start-up, troubleshooting, and other service-related tasks as required.
  • Performs basic electrical and mechanical repairs on boilers and auxiliary systems.
  • Engages effectively with both new and existing clients to identify boiler-specific issues, provide equipment training, explain services and operations, and offer engineering support.
  • Completes necessary field service documentation, detailing work performed, nature of issues, hours worked, etc.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills and addresses concerns proactively.
  • Fosters and maintains positive customer relationships, identifying new sales opportunities and equipment enhancements. Advocates for our products and services.
  • Utilizes hand and power tools, combustion analyzers, and multimeters proficiently.
  • May involve occasional overnight travel and overtime commitments.
  • Exhibits punctuality, adaptability, willingness to learn, and self-motivation. Capable of innovative thinking while adhering to detailed instructions.

Job Specifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; a minimum of four years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference for candidates with Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems in industrial steam and power plant operations, as well as experience with electrical and mechanical testing tools.
  • Effective communication skills with customers, vendors, contractors, sales personnel, and other service team members.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations and compute ratios and percentages.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications, with experience using tablets and smartphones.
  • Physical requirements include standing, using hands for manipulation, reaching, walking, sitting, climbing, and lifting/moving up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color vision.
  • Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, extreme heat, and electrical hazards is common. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, and outdoor weather conditions may occur. The work environment is typically loud.
