Job Overview:

Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) is seeking a Cybersecurity Product Engineer to engage in innovative research within the realm of networking and cybersecurity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead research initiatives aimed at pioneering concepts in tactical mobile ad-hoc network protocols, sensor protocols, airborne network overlays, and network management technologies.
  • Assess the viability of emerging network technologies.
  • Construct prototypes to validate the feasibility of these technologies.
  • Conduct testing and evaluation of research prototypes in applicable environments.

This role emphasizes the successful transition of technology from research to operational programs and external clients.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain product security and resilience throughout the entire lifecycle, including requirements, design, build, test, production, operations, and support.
  • Enhance system requirements and architectures for product security to comply with all relevant certification and customer standards.
  • Ensure the security of facilities, equipment, data, networks, and resources utilized in product design, development, testing, storage, delivery, operations, and support.
  • Define and identify product security requirements for component and subsystem suppliers for integration into Boeing products and services.
  • Collaborate with government entities, customers, suppliers, and industry stakeholders to identify risks and enhance security standards and requirements.
  • Engage in research and development activities that yield innovative solutions.
  • Provide guidance to customers on maintaining product security and certification, including the security implications of product modifications.

Work Environment:

This position requires 100% onsite work at one of the designated locations.

Security Clearance:

The role necessitates the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with network systems.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with network protocols and routing table definitions.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and shell scripting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with network systems programming and Linux kernel programming.
  • Familiarity with network device drivers, routing protocols, transport protocols, and network-oriented middleware.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networks.
  • Experience in project leadership and customer interaction, demonstrating high-quality implementation and documentation.
  • Knowledge of real-time software environments and system hardware.

Pay is determined based on experience and qualifications, as well as market considerations.
