Position Title: Combustion & Controls Technician

Key Responsibilities:

  • Employ test instruments and meters, along with mechanical and electrical skills, to ignite boilers and associated equipment, ensuring correct functionality during installation.
  • Independently initiate boiler and related equipment operations.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, verbal, diagrammatic, or scheduled formats.
  • Support the Service team in executing field service calls for start-up, troubleshooting, and other service-related tasks as required.
  • Conduct basic electrical and mechanical repairs on boilers and auxiliary systems.
  • Effectively communicate with customers to identify boiler-specific issues, deliver equipment training, clarify services and operations, and provide engineering assistance.
  • Complete necessary field service documentation, detailing work performed, nature of issues, hours spent, etc.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving capabilities and address concerns efficiently.
  • Foster and maintain positive customer relationships, seeking new sales opportunities and equipment enhancements. Advocate for our products and services.
  • Utilize hand and power tools, combustion analyzers, and multimeters proficiently.
  • Willingness to travel overnight and work overtime as needed.
  • Exhibit punctuality, adaptability, willingness to learn, and self-motivation. Ability to think creatively while adhering to detailed instructions.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; a minimum of four years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference for candidates with Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems in industrial steam and power plant operations, along with experience using electrical and mechanical testing equipment.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers, vendors, contractors, sales personnel, and other team members.
  • Mathematical proficiency to perform basic calculations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, including computing ratios and percentages.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and Google applications, as well as experience using tablets and smartphones.
  • Physical requirements include regular standing, using hands for handling and feeling, frequent reaching, occasional walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color vision.
  • Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, extreme heat, and electrical hazards is common. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, and outdoor weather conditions may occur. The work environment typically has a loud noise level.
