Position Title: Combustion & Controls Technician

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize testing instruments and mechanical expertise to ignite boilers and associated equipment, ensuring optimal functionality during installation.
  • Conduct independent start-up procedures for boilers and related systems.
  • Interpret various forms of instructions, including written, oral, and schematic formats.
  • Assist the service team in field operations, including start-up, troubleshooting, and other service-related tasks as necessary.
  • Perform basic electrical and mechanical repairs on boilers and auxiliary systems.
  • Engage effectively with customers to identify boiler-specific issues, provide training on equipment, explain services, and offer engineering support.
  • Complete field service documentation, detailing work performed, problems encountered, and hours worked.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills and address customer concerns effectively.
  • Foster and maintain positive customer relationships, seeking new sales opportunities and promoting our products and services.
  • Employ hand and power tools, combustion analyzers, and multimeters proficiently.
  • Willingness to travel overnight and work overtime as required.
  • Exhibit punctuality, flexibility, and a proactive approach to work. Ability to think creatively while adhering to detailed instructions.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; a minimum of four years of relevant experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred background in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems in industrial steam and power plant operations, along with knowledge of testing equipment.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with customers, vendors, contractors, and team members.
  • Mathematical proficiency, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as the ability to compute ratios and percentages.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications, with experience using tablets and smartphones.
  • Physical requirements include standing, using hands for manipulation, reaching, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close and color vision.
  • Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, extreme heat, and electrical hazards is common in this role. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions may occur.

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate of $65.49.
