Job Summary

Healthier Mississippi People (HMP) is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by performing a full range of laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct clinical laboratory tests and analysis in the areas of hematology, microbiology, immunology, clinical chemistry, and urinalysis.
  • Analyze samples of biological material for chemical content or reaction.
  • Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids to determine the presence of normal and abnormal components.
  • Cultivate, isolate, assist in identifying, and conduct tests on microbial organisms; obtain, cut, stain, and mount biological material on slides for microscopic study and diagnosis.
  • Select and prepare specimens and media for cell culture, using aseptic technique.
  • Study blood samples to determine the number of cells and their morphology, as well as blood group type, and compatibility for transfusion purposes.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment used in quantitative and qualitative analysis such as spectrophotometers, calorimeters, flame photometers, and computer-controlled analyzers.
  • Promote safety, environmental, and/or infection control practices.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology and eligibility for certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by a recognized certifying agency.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
