Key Responsibilities- Specimen Processing: Coordinate the workflow of phlebotomists in the Specimen Processing area, ensuring accurate and efficient transportation of lab-related supplies, equipment, and specimens.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to regulatory guidelines in handling and processing laboratory specimens, following all laws and regulations.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with all NMHS staff, patients, their family members, and customers, utilizing AIDET principles and attending CARES training.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, utilizing AIDET principles and attending CARES training, and ensuring proper service recovery when necessary.
- Employee Relations: Work collaboratively with all Pathology and NMHS employees as part of a team.
- Reporting and Recordkeeping: Ensure accurate and timely reporting of department testing, applicable to your area, and assist with meeting goals of department Performance Improvement initiatives.
- Education and Training: Assist with training of students and new employees, participate in continuing education programs to maintain and expand skills, and stay abreast of regulatory changes.
- Education: Associate of Arts degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician from a CAHEA/NAACLS accredited program.
- Certification: ASCP Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician, preferred within 12 months after graduation from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Program. Willing to consider 10 years of experience in a clinic or hospital laboratory in lieu of certification.
- Skills: Good organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills, knowledge of and appropriate handling of biohazardous specimens.
