Healthcare Assistant/Patient Service Coordinator

Position Overview
The Healthcare Assistant/Patient Service Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the medical team and ensuring a seamless patient experience. This position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at enhancing patient care and maintaining efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare providers with patient care, workflow management, and administrative tasks.
- Welcome patients and their families, managing appointment scheduling and testing in a timely manner.
- Handle patient payments, provide account information, and issue receipts while ensuring accurate posting to accounts.
- Respond to phone inquiries promptly, addressing caller needs and delivering messages accurately.
- Facilitate referrals and consult orders in a timely manner.
- Schedule and document diagnostic tests and procedures in the order management system, adhering to established workflows.
- Collect and verify patient information, including demographics, insurance details, and necessary forms.
- Prepare examination rooms and assist patients during their visits, ensuring cleanliness and readiness.
- Gather vital signs and document them accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure timely pre-authorizations and medication reconciliations.
- Maintain an organized inventory of medical supplies and ensure examination rooms are stocked appropriately.
General Requirements:
- Demonstrate understanding of medical emergency procedures and comply with regulatory policies.
- Perform additional duties as needed, including EKG and phlebotomy tasks.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects, as well as maintain physical mobility and agility.
- Endurance for prolonged standing, bending, and walking.
Environmental Considerations:
- Exposure to various environmental factors, including chemicals and allergens.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's or Associate Degree preferred.
- Medical Assistant Certification is mandatory; candidates must obtain certification within a specified timeframe if not already certified.
- Previous experience in a medical assistant or patient service role is advantageous.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with medical terminology are preferred.
